FHS & Pekin Schools Art in FAA Gallery

posted on 3/17/26

The Fairfield Art Association announces two new exhibits opening April 3rd at the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center. The FHS 2026 annual Art Show will be in the Main Gallery with many pieces of art from a variety of classes. On display will be a wide range of mediums to view, including; charcoal, acrylic, oil, watercolor, colored pencil, clay, and ink. An opening reception will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Friday April 3rd. This event is free and open to the public. Art Instructor David Kraemer invites students, their family and friends to "Please come and see the outstanding works created by our FHS art students".

The Pekin School will be displaying their 7th grade students art works in the Hallway Gallery in the FA&CC. Media will include drawings in charcoal and pastels along with clay food sculptures. Matt Guise is the Pekin art instructor and excited to share his students art works.

Matt also instructs a "Young Art Class" twice a month on Mondays in the FAA Studio. Both Kraemer and Guise serve on the FAA Board. FAA is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year, which means there have been 60 years of exhibits from the Fairfield School system. Fairfield has always had a strong art department with a standout group of youth artists, many recognized within our state, and go on to use their art skills in careers. FAA offers 2 art related scholarships to FHS seniors, both named after former FHS Art teachers: One scholarship honors Don Kremer and the other in memory of Mark Shafer.
