Fairfield Art Association Announces Winners of 2026 Membership Exhibit
The Fairfield Art association announces the winning artists at its annual Membership Exhibit featuring 43 artists from Southeast Iowa with a total of 82 entries in a variety of media. An awards event was held in the Main Gallery at the FA&CC on March 6 with a large crowd. Harriet Burbeck was the judge and announced the winners of four "Outstanding Artworks" which included:
Christopher Bennett for his bronze sculpture of a biker, Care Connett for an abstract painting in gouache, Vicki Ingham for her Still-life oil painting, and John Evans for a foggy morning soft pastel.
Anna Maistri, a new FAA board member announced the winner of the public "Vote for Favorite" that went to Care Connett.
This event kicked off the FAAs 60th year, an update was presented on the Mark Shafer Memorial Sculpture with a full scale basic rendering was on display. The board also announced this year's Summer Downtown Art Installation theme "FIRECRACKER - The Spark that Started It All". This year's event is sponsored by Hickenbottom INC, who has donated 20 five foot x 6" PVC Pipes to create original art pieces celebrating the 4th of July. The guidelines for participating artists are ready and available at the FAA Studio. There will be more details on the Firecracker Theme coming soon to celebrate the 250th in Fairfield.
