Lunch & Learn: Southeast Iowa Community Food Web with Bob Ferguson

Join us during this week's Lunch & Learn discussion for a look at the Southeast Community Food Web with Bob Ferguson. Bob has been involved in the Sustainable Living Coalition and the Southeast Iowa Food Hub for many years. He was responsible for inviting Tera Johnson, founder of the Food Finance Institute at the University of Wisconsin Extension, to come to Fairfield to do two highly consequential boot camps in 2018. The first was for food manufacturers, the second, dubbed Boot Camp for A Town, involved a diverse group of stakeholders from producers to food manufacturers, economic development directors, and local political leaders. Those boot camps significantly accelerated the development of elements of a local food system in Jefferson County. From that beginning, the idea of a regional food web was born, a preliminary planning session was held in 2019, and post covid, revived as the Southeast Iowa Community Food Web. The Ignite Day for the SICFW was held on May 10, with over 60 in attendance.
