Mah Jongg

Mah Jongg is a tile-based game that was developed in the 19th century in China and has spread throughout the world since the early 20th century. Players at FPL play an American variation of the game every week at the library. Stop by and see how the game is played and join the group if you want to learn the game. Teaching instruction for new players will take place the first Friday of each month. The library also offers introductory books for check-out.

Fairfield Genealogy Club

Join local volunteer Barbara Rainbow for a monthly group exploration of genealogy and local history. Participants are welcome to bring any materials they would like to share or discuss with the group. In the coming months, particpants can look forward to presentations on learning to navigate ancestry.com, delve into the library's genealogy collection together, and make new friends!

Bring your cards and come ready to trade!  The Pokemon Club meeting is a chance for Pokemon card collectors to come and trade cards, play the game and do Pokemon related activities.

3:30 PM: Quick intros
3:45 PM-4:45 PM: Write for 1 hr.
4:45 PM-5:00 PM: Clean up and Farewells (until next Tuesday!)

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BRING?

Bring your paper, pens, or laptop (whatever helps you write best). Headphones are optional but recommended.

JCHC Parkinson's Support Group

The Jefferson County Parkinson’s Support Group is a Community Group that meets once a month with support from JCHC and the Iowa Chapter of the American Parkinson’s Disease Association (APDA)- “Strength in Optimism. Hope in Progress.” The group meets the first Tuesday of the month at 4:00 p.m. in JCHC Conference Room C. (Use the McCreery Cancer Center entrance.) The purpose of the group is to learn, engage in discussions with others, share experiences, tips, and ideas about living with Parkinson's disease or being a care partner, provide mutual support, and foster a sense of community. The Poet's Forge

This free monthly workshop is meant for those who are serious about expanding their skills for composing poetry. Participants should bring work they have written and are prepared to discuss with the group. Anyone interested in developing the poetic quality of their writing is welcome!

Bring a pen and paper and share what you’ve written in a friendly, open discussion.  No experience is necessary.  All skill levels and writing genres are welcome and there is no charge for the program.

Warbler Walk

Join Therese Cummiskey and Austin Roe for a great morning of birding at Whitham Woods. Hike through Whitham Woods to witness some of the spring migrants that utilize Jefferson County as their stopover or summer homes! The hike will be starting at the Whitham Woods Parking Lot.

Date & Time: The 3rd Saturday of every month 
Location: FPL Conference Room
Audience: Adults

Join us for a thought-provoking read once a month sponsored by FPL. Book are available through Interlibrary Loan and will be available 4 weeks prior to the group's meeting. Participants vote each month on the next book they will read. Titles chosen will be philosophical and rich in meaning, but digestible enough for just about any inquisitive mind. This event is free and open to the general public.
