Southeast Iowa Farm Show 2025

The 10th Annual Kenny Norton Southeast Iowa Farm Show is one of Iowa’s best exhibitions of agriculture machinery, seed technology, grain handling and more for today’s farming operation. Admission to the Farm Show is free and open to the public!

The show features over 40 exhibitors showcasing the latest and greatest in agri-business, land purchasing and developing, livestock care, outdoor sports & recreation, and apparel. Catch up with old friends, celebrate trusted traditions and learn what’s new in ag today.

Then, be sure to come back in the evening for country music legend Pam Tillis, live in concert at 7:30 PM! (Tickets are required for the Pam Tillis concert and can be purchased HERE.)

March Birdy Brunch

Join Naturalist, Austin Roe, for an indoor discussion about all of the different waterfowl you may find this year. We will be learning the key traits to look for while trying to identify these beautiful birds. Then enjoy a nice hike around the Cedar View Wetland in search of some early migrants. Make sure to dress warm. Bringing your own binoculars is recommended, but we do have limited pairs to borrow if needed.

Fairfield Genealogy Club

Join local volunteer Barbara Rainbow for a monthly group exploration of genealogy and local history. Participants are welcome to bring any materials they would like to share or discuss with the group. In the coming months, particpants can look forward to presentations on learning to navigate ancestry.com, delve into the library's genealogy collection together, and make new friends!

JCHC Parkinson's Support Group

The Jefferson County Parkinson’s Support Group is a Community Group that meets once a month with support from JCHC and the Iowa Chapter of the American Parkinson’s Disease Association (APDA)- “Strength in Optimism. Hope in Progress.” The group meets the first Tuesday of the month at 4:00 p.m. in JCHC Conference Room C. (Use the McCreery Cancer Center entrance.) The purpose of the group is to learn, engage in discussions with others, share experiences, tips, and ideas about living with Parkinson's disease or being a care partner, provide mutual support, and foster a sense of community. Family Peer Support Group

A Family Peer Support Specialist is a person with significant life-altering experience pertaining to mental illness ("lived experience") with a Child(ren) in the home.  These specialists support parents with struggles pertaining to the child(s) mental health, psychological trauma or substance use.  We have openings for new clients that may be struggling with their child(s) mental health or substance abuse. 

Family Peer support services are available to any family in need of additional support who have a child(ren) that are living in the home and have been diagnosed with a mental health diagnosis including addiction.  Please call Ashley at 641-919-1375 with questions or to schedule an appoitment if not wanting to meet in a group setting.

Preschool Open House

FAIRFIELD, IA — The Fairfield Community School District is now accepting preschool enrollment for the 2025-2026 school year online. Please follow these directions.

Due to limited space, families must complete online registration to secure a spot.

To be eligible for preschool, students must be four years old on or before September 15, 2025 or three years old with an IEP. Preschool classes run Monday through Thursday. The district offers free morning and afternoon sections, as well as an all-day option for $175 per month. The all-day option is not available for students with an IEP.

Families are encouraged to attend the Preschool Open House on Friday, March 7, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Washington Elementary.

“We are already preparing for the 2025-26 academic year and can’t wait to welcome new Trojans,” said Zach Wigle, Superintendent. “We look forward to meeting families at our open house and appreciate their partnership with our district.”

Mah Jongg

Mah Jongg is a tile-based game that was developed in the 19th century in China and has spread throughout the world since the early 20th century. Players at FPL play an American variation of the game every week at the library. Stop by and see how the game is played and join the group if you want to learn the game. Teaching instruction for new players will take place the first Friday of each month. The library also offers introductory books for check-out.

Iowa Hunter Education Classroom Course

Hunter education is a mandatory program that is designed to introduce students to several life-long skills that are important to many different types of outdoor recreational opportunities. The course teaches students basic survival and first aid skills, water safety, wildlife identification, the basics of wildlife management, hunting laws and firearm/archery safety. Hunter education also stresses the importance of individual responsibility and outdoor ethics.

Iowa law requires that anyone born after January 1, 1972 must be certified in hunter education before they are eligible to purchase an Iowa hunting license.

Please Note: When you are registering a child for this course please be sure to login as the child you are wishing to register or create an account for that child and do not login or register yourself as a parent unless you are wanting to take the course yourself for certification. Students who have previously purchased Iowa DNR licenses, such as youth deer tags, will already have an Iowa DNR account and should register for this course using their personal information. 

Please bring a sack lunch, something to drink, and dress accordingly to the weather.

The Fairfield Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to provide Jefferson County residents the opportunity to share their views with state lawmakers during a series of four public forums during the Iowa legislative session.

Monthly legislative forums are held from 7:30 am - 9:00 am on Saturday in February and April. Legislators will provide a brief update followed by a Q&A session moderated by the Fairfield Area Chamber of Commerce. Coffee and donuts will be available for participants.

A Family Peer Support Specialist is a person with significant life-altering experience pertaining to mental illness ("lived experience") with a Child(ren) in the home.  These specialists support parents with struggles pertaining to the child(s) mental health, psychological trauma or substance use.  We have openings for new clients that may be struggling with their child(s) mental health or substance abuse. 

Family Peer support services are available to any family in need of additional support who have a child(ren) that are living in the home and have been diagnosed with a mental health diagnosis including addiction.  Please call Ashley at 641-919-1375 with questions or to schedule an appoitment if not wanting to meet in a group setting.

Mah Jongg is a tile-based game that was developed in the 19th century in China and has spread throughout the world since the early 20th century. Players at FPL play an American variation of the game every week at the library. Stop by and see how the game is played and join the group if you want to learn the game. Come and Enjoy a movie in a group setting.  All movies have a message that can relate to mental health in one way or another

At the end of the movie we will have a discussion of the movie, (What lessons did the main character(s) learn?  What was the movies main message?  What/how did the movie make you feel? did you connect with any of the moments in the movie, how?)

Shut Up & Write

Shut Up and Write is a chance for writers to sit quietly together and work on their writing projects. 

All writers and all experience levels are welcome, and dont worry, no one will see what you've written. This hour is about getting your writing done.

WHAT TO EXPECT

3:30 PM: Quick intros
3:45 PM-4:45 PM: Write for 1 hr.
4:45 PM-5:00 PM: Clean up and Farewells (until next Tuesday!)

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BRING?

Bring your paper, pens, or laptop (whatever helps you write best). Headphones are optional but recommended.

Fairfield Lions Club Spaghetti Supper and Raffle

The Fairfield Lions Club is having a spaghetti supper and raffle on March 25th from 5 pm till 7:30 pm at the Fairfield Middle School commons.

Cost will be $10.00 per person.

The money raised will be presented to the Fairfield High school activities department to provide supple tax funding for the fine arts and athletics departments.

Tickets are available from all Lions members, High school students or at the door.

Take out will be available.

Family Peer Support Group

A Family Peer Support Specialist is a person with significant life-altering experience pertaining to mental illness ("lived experience") with a Child(ren) in the home.  These specialists support parents with struggles pertaining to the child(s) mental health, psychological trauma or substance use.  We have openings for new clients that may be struggling with their child(s) mental health or substance abuse. 

Family Peer support services are available to any family in need of additional support who have a child(ren) that are living in the home and have been diagnosed with a mental health diagnosis including addiction.  Please call Ashley at 641-919-1375 with questions or to schedule an appoitment if not wanting to meet in a group setting.

Mah Jongg

Mah Jongg is a tile-based game that was developed in the 19th century in China and has spread throughout the world since the early 20th century. Players at FPL play an American variation of the game every week at the library. Stop by and see how the game is played and join the group if you want to learn the game. Teaching instruction for new players will take place the first Friday of each month. The library also offers introductory books for check-out.
