The Fairfield Art Association announces the 2023 FHS Art Show will be on display during the month of March in the Main Gallery at the Fairfield Arts and Convention Center. There will be an Opening Reception on Friday, March 3rd from 6:00 - 8:00 PM. for students, parents, friends and is free and open to the public. FHS Art instructor David Kraemer says "There are over 100 pieces of art, from a variety of classes that will be on display, with a wide range of mediums to view, including; charcoal, acrylic, watercolor, colored pencil, clay, pewter, and ink. Please come and see the outstanding works created by our FHS art students."
The FAA Board is pleased to announce the addition this year of a representation of artworks by students from Pekin School in the Hallway Gallery also at the FA&CC. Grades 7-11 will display works by 14 students in media of chalk, painting, lino prints and mixed media. Matt Guise is the art instructor and new FAA board member.
According to FAA Volunteer Director, Suzan Kessel "It is great to have two talented local art teachers on our board and see them share creative ideas from their classrooms. The Fairfield School System has presented art exhibits for all of the 57 years the FAA has existed. I personally remember showing my junior and senior high school art work at the old FAA gallery in the then Fairfield Library basement (Carnegie Building). Instructors then were Don Kremer Jr. High and Bob Glocke at FHS, both founders of the FAA AND STILL FAA MEMBERS. (Mark Shafer followed Glocke) Fairfield has had a reputation of having brilliant dedicated art instructors and the schools fabulous art programs - We can really celebrate that!"

Speaker Presentation A Cycling Adventure Through Iran: An Encore Presentation by Author Hans Frischeisen Date & Time: Saturday, February, 2023 from 1:30-2:15 PM Location: FPL Meeting Room Audience: All ages Join us for a second presentation by local author Hans Frischeisen, author of Pedaling, Paddling and Pedes: A Pronoic Adventure around the World by Means of 'Muscle Fuel'. In this installment of Mr. Frischeisen's series, we will hear about the author's travels through Iran. In an earlier presentation, Mr. Fischeisen told an audience, “I think there’s a great misunderstanding of the faith of Islam. I was in a hotel in Iran, and there was a Christmas tree there. Now, this is the world of Muslims. I asked them about it, and they said the Koran says ‘To me my religion, and to you, yours.’ That’s pretty generous, right? It’s not narrow-minded. That’s acceptance.” If you need disability-related assistance in order to attend this event, please contact the FPL Front Desk at 641-472-6551, Ext. 2.

The biggest film of the decade is back on the big screen where it belongs! RRR is an exhilarating, action-packed spectacular mythologizing two real-life freedom fighters who helped lead India’s fight for independence from the British Raj, Komaram Bheem (N.T Rama Rao Jr., aka Jr NTR) and Alluri Sitarama Raju (Ram Charan). Set in the 1920s before their fight for India’s independence began, RRR imagines a fictional meeting between the two, set into motion when a young Gond girl is stolen from her village by British soldiers.
With staggeringly choreographed action sequences, an all-timer of a musical number, and a powerful story, RRR is pure big screen joy from start to finish. Audiences across the world have been won over, it’s a great big party, and you’re invited- come join!
RRR is presented theatrically exclusively in the original Telugu version.

"The Dimming" - Special Showing of Documentary on Climate Engineering

March 25, 2023
6:30 pm · 9:00 pm
Our skies are being filled with deadly particulates from ongoing aerosol operations, over most of the world. Geoengineering Watch has released a groundbreaking documentary, “The Dimming,” that conclusively exposes the existence of global weather intervention operations. This documentary covers the effect of these global programs in regards to Earth’s collapsing food webs, declining populations, mass wildlife die offs, and the rapid degrading of Mother Nature’s systems of renewal. Global weather engineering operations are a reality. Atmospheric particle testing has now proven that the lingering, spreading jet aircraft trails, so commonly visible in our skies, are not just condensation as we have officially been told. These global climate-engineering programs are the single most environmentally destructive assault the human race has ever unleashed against Earth’s entire web of life. Who is responsible for carrying out these programs? What will the consequences be if geoengineering/solar radiation management operations are continued? “The Dimming” documentary will provide answers to these questions and many more. It will layout the scientific facts regarding the devastation that is now upon our beloved planet Earth. Thank you for joining our showing of “The Dimming” on March 25, and for notifying others. All are needed in the critical battle to wake up populations to what is happening and we must make every day count. The Fairfield Film Group thanks you for giving this your time and consideration! You are invited to stay and join our discussion following the showing of “The Dimming.”

Cross-cutting between two generations, James Ivory’s sprawling epic of self-discovery is also a lush evocation of the prismatic and sensuous beauty of India. As she searches for answers to the mystery surrounding a long-ago affair between her aunt Olivia (Greta Scacchi) and an Indian prince (Shashi Kapoor), Anne (Julie Christie) becomes immersed in the local culture, the pull of the past simultaneously leading her into a clearer view of her own future. Ruth Prawer Jhabvala’s screenplay adapts her own novel to great effect, and Richard Robbins and Zakir Hussain provide the haunting score. The film earned the Merchant Ivory team 9 BAFTA nominations and a Palme d’Or nomination at Cannes for director James Ivory.
Zakir Hussain is preforming at the center on March 31st!

Since 1996, Zakir Hussain has served as curator, conductor, and producer to bring the very cream of Indian music and world percussion to tour America and Europe with his series, Zakir Hussain and Masters of Percussion.
Growing out of his renowned international tabla duet tours with his father, the legendary Ustad Allarakha, Masters of Percussion began as a platform for both popular and rarely heard rhythm traditions from India. While performing and collaborating in India for a few months every year, Zakir has sought and unearthed lesser-known folk and classical traditions which feed into the greater stream of Indian music, playing an educational role in affording them greater visibility, as well as introducing them to audiences in the West. Over time, the constantly changing ensemble has expanded to include great drummers and percussionists from many world traditions.
All of it creates a truly beautiful field from which he can bring Masters of Percussion to the West. This year will be no exception, presenting American audiences with extraordinary, exciting and spontaneous combinations of percussive as well as melodic performances.
The results are absolutely unforgettable. Critics and audiences agree — Masters of Percussion really delivers.
