The Young Artists Class - Comic Fun!

Get Ready for Giant Comic Fun!

Presented by Fairfield Art Association Young Artists Class at Fairfield Arts & Convention Center, Fairfield IA

Calling all Young Artists! In our next Young Artist Class, we’re going BIG—literally! We’ll create giant comic strips! Using large sheets of paper, bold illustrations, and creative storytelling, you’ll bring your comics to life in a new way.

The Young Artists Class will meet this Monday, March 31, at the Fairfield Arts and Convention Center in the same room as the Gift Shop. It will begin at 4:30 and end at 5:45. The following classes will continue to Meet every other Monday.

The class fee is $15.00 per child per class, including supplies. We now accept Credit (a 3% Merchant Fee will be added to your credit payment).

Get Ready for Giant Comic Fun!

Plan your story with fun characters and action-packed scenes

Draw oversized panels and speech bubbles

Use bold lines and expressive details to make your comic pop!

This is a fantastic chance to think outside the panel and experiment with storytelling on a GIANT scale. Don’t miss out on the fun!

There is no charge for caregivers, and you are welcome to join as long as seats are available—which usually are.

Join Childrens Librarian Sara Martindale for stories, songs, and rhymes! This Storytime is aimed at children ages 0-3 with a caregiver, but all ages are welcome to join in the fun!

Movie & Snack

Come and Enjoy a movie in a group setting.  All movies have a message that can relate to mental health in one way or another

At the end of the movie we will have a discussion of the movie, (What lessons did the main character(s) learn?  What was the movies main message?  What/how did the movie make you feel? did you connect with any of the moments in the movie, how?)

Shut Up & Write

Shut Up and Write is a chance for writers to sit quietly together and work on their writing projects. 

All writers and all experience levels are welcome, and dont worry, no one will see what you've written. This hour is about getting your writing done.

WHAT TO EXPECT

3:30 PM: Quick intros
3:45 PM-4:45 PM: Write for 1 hr.
4:45 PM-5:00 PM: Clean up and Farewells (until next Tuesday!)

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BRING?

Bring your paper, pens, or laptop (whatever helps you write best). Headphones are optional but recommended.

JCHC Parkinson's Support Group

The Jefferson County Parkinson’s Support Group is a Community Group that meets once a month with support from JCHC and the Iowa Chapter of the American Parkinson’s Disease Association (APDA)- “Strength in Optimism. Hope in Progress.” The group meets the first Tuesday of the month at 4:00 p.m. in JCHC Conference Room C. (Use the McCreery Cancer Center entrance.) The purpose of the group is to learn, engage in discussions with others, share experiences, tips, and ideas about living with Parkinson's disease or being a care partner, provide mutual support, and foster a sense of community.
